I really enjoy converting flower pictures to black and white. I know most people will wonder why I do it, and they think that it's probably not the best way to display them. It even contradicts my own advice, but I think it's a powerful way to show flowers in a way that you don't see them every day, and it brings out their textures in a way that color never can.

That's nice. It really makes me focus on the texture of the petals. It's a whole new lily.
Thanks to both of you! This shot got kind of a lukewarm response on Flickr, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. Oh, they explain it, but it doesn't make any sense to me. Personally, I like how the delicate textures are brought out here and how the cold feel of the tones give it an otherworldly kind of aura.
Black and white photos are an excellent way to get a second view of the world.
My love for black and white photos is due to the fact that they evoke so much more emotion. Color often distracts the eye, as well as the mind. This is a classic example of that very notion. Great work. :)
P.S. Found your blog via your Flickr profile, in case you were wondering. LOL
