Here's another scanograph (meaning I placed the subject on the scanner to take the picture), this time of a green onion. My neighbor Richard (whom you might remember from "Making Ducks") gave us a handful out of his garden. What I like about scanography is my increased ability to isolate the subject against the background and the incredible ability to get in really, really close to a subject--much closer than I could with a camera, unless I spent whopping amounts of money on specialty diaphragms/lenses.
