Here's another one of my son Link at my cousin's wedding. There was some red eye which I tried to fix in a little different way, but it ended up looking like a sparkle in his eye. I like the effect.

I'm back again, though there's no telling how long I'll be back. I start my new job with the feds the beginning of September, and some time after that I'll be spending 6 weeks in Dallas, so I should get some new and interesting material there.
This particular shot is my son, Lincoln, at my cousin's wedding reception this past Saturday.
This picture was taken with my brand new camara, a Canon Powershot S5 IS. It's the newer version of the Canon Powershot S3 IS, which my parents have and I've borrowed a few times. It' really a great camera, and has everything even a moderately seriously amateur could need, without costing the hundreds of extra dollars an SLR with all the necessary accessories would require.
As a side note, I realize how confusing it can be with all the untitled pictures I always have. So, along with the new camera comes an arbitrary naming system when the picture doesn't need--or shouldn't have--a title. I will just use the number assigned by the camera rather than leaving it untitled. I haven't decided how I will number them once the numbering starts over at 1.

This one is from the only roll of 35mm film I shot last year (which was in December). The film was quite old and had been in the refrigerator too long, so this was the only good one out of the bunch. It's at Wyuka Cemetery here in Lincoln, Nebraska, and these are all soldiers' graves, mostly from WWII.

More from the Museum of Nebraska History, as part of a Lincoln Flickr group event: this is part of a bison (or buffalo) skeleton. I thought the skull was too obvious a point to focus on, so I chose the ribs instead. I was going to title it differently, but I noticed in small lettering the words "rib sled" in the far upper left corner, and I thought that would make a unique title for it too. Here is another shot, an eagle feather bonnet from a Western Sioux tribe:

The Lincoln Flickr group had another Flickr walk on Saturday, this time to the Museum of Nebraska History. Despite the dim lighting throughout most of the museum, and the rule against flash photography (and my failure to bring a tripod) many of us were able to get some very good shots. This first one is a phrenology bust chart, and it's exactly the kind of thing that I like to shoot. According to the accompanying description, "Phrenology was a popular nineteenth-century pseudoscience that claimed a person's personality and intellect could be determined by studying the shape of the skull." And since this one is so creepy, I thought I'd share a couple other creepy looking shots I took.

Here are two more pictures of the house from yesterday's picture. The reason it's so torn up is because the fire department used it for drills before the demolition. I imagine that looked a little like the video for Metallica's rendition of "Whiskey in the Jar," which would be really cool. Anyway, if I can remember to get the pictures off the camera then tomorrow I'll be able to share some shots of them actually tearing the house down.

One of my best friends from high school and elementary school asked me to take pictures of his daughters, and I did so using my Yashica FX-7 Super and, I believe, 400 ISO Kodak over-the-counter film. I scanned it in recently and converted to black and white, and then I added vignetting and film grain to give it a nostalgic feel. I was kind of leery about posting this picture earlier, but since it's been over two years since the picture was taken I feel more comfortable about it now.
