Feallen II
Hi, and welcome to the second day of the Feallen theme week here at Full Metal Photographer, in celebration of autumn. All this week I'll be posting scans of autumn leaves. If you want to read more about the word feallen or check out my free desktop background (featuring a jack-o-lantern) then click [PREV<<<<] for yesterday's post.

This is a stand of trees near Hickman, Nebraska, where we'll be moving into our new house in December. I love the way they're obviously planted in rows, and in this shot I particularly like the quality and direction of the light.

I'd also like to remind everyone about my book available for sale through Blurb and my prints available through Artistrising.

I'm pleased to announce the availability of my first-ever book! It's eighty pages long, with over ninety of my best and most popular photos in it, and right now it costs $24.99 in softcover or $38.49 in hardcover. And I'm pretty pleased with the quality too. If you've been wanting to buy one of my photos and just didn't know which one to get, this is for you. Or, maybe you just want something new on your coffee table or in your office's waiting room. Anyway, at least give it a look--on the Blurb web site you can see the first 15 pages in a reduced resolution PDF file, and you could also find out how to make your own book if you want.

What are you waiting for? Check it out!

Here are some more pictures of my softcover copy of the book (I've got some hardcovers coming in the mail real soon):

Gethsemane
Today is Maundy Thursday (or Holy Thursday), and a lot happened to Jesus on this day nearly 2000 years ago. It is the day he washed the Apostles' feet and commanded us to love one another, predicted Peter's denial, instituted the sacrament of holy communion (in the Last Supper), and the date when he was betrayed by Judas Iscariot through a kiss (probably the origin of the popular phrase "kiss of death"). But before his betrayal, he prayed to God the Father, asking him if there was any other way to save mankind. While perhaps to us the most dramatic moment is the moment of betrayal, I think that perhaps to Jesus it was his prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, when he was literally sweating blood because of his anguish. Click these links to learn more about Maundy Thursday and the Garden of Gethsemane.

Lilacs
In anticipation of spring, here's a shot I took two years ago in April, 2005, and have since scanned and shoppped to bring out the colors. Enjoy!

Mother of the Groom
I think these will be the last ones I post here from the Mosel-Brummels wedding, but I'll be sure to post some more over at my other blog. I hope you enjoy them.

Father of the Groom
I had the pleasure of serving as an usher for a college friend's wedding this past weekend (and my wife served as a bridesmaid), and she asked me to take candid pictures throughout the rehearsal and basically as much as I could when I wasn't busy as an usher. This one is of the father of the groom, taken at the rehearsal. Luckily, my dad let me use his Canon Powershot S3 IS, and the 12X zoom combined with anti-shake made all these possible.

Sunset with Telephone Pole
This is a re-interpretation of an older picture of mine. Previously with all my film shots, I didn't do any digital editing. Now, with many of them I've scanned them at high resolution, cleaned them up a bit, and done some tweaking to bring out their hidden potential.

My Internet access is going to be sporadic for a while, so you'll just have to be patient with me until I can get a more convenient way to connect.

A year ago today, I posted the first picture here on Full Metal Photographer. I'm using this opportunity to share with you the best of the last year. I hope you enjoy them, and look to see more great images in the coming year.

I've posted over 300 pictures in the last year (317, I believe), not counting the ten wonderful guest blog entries I had over the year. Here are just 37 of them--distilled down to the very best. Many of these are easy to buy, so if you love it, make sure to check out my purchase information page. I have the bar exam next Tuesday and Wednesday, so I won't post again until early March. Enjoy.
